Reclaiming clay

Excerpt from the newsletter of February 16, 2024.

The wonderful thing about clay is that as long as it is not fired, it is possible to return it to a liquid state (slip) or paste... indefinitely! This is really one of the things I love about this material...

I have always reclaimed my clay: I even bought a pug mill to make the process easier and more efficient even before I had a kiln!

I now reclaim both my clay and my casting slip...

In the end, several hundred kilos of clay are reclaimed in our studio each year.

Although the purchase of the equipment was still an investment, considering the time it saves us, the virgin material it saves us from buying, and the waste it saves us from generating, I believe it is an excellent investment that easily pays for itself in a production workshop. I wouldn't do without it ;)
